Archaeological Museum of Ugento

WhatWeAre interactive studio contributed to the new Archaeological Museum of Ugento, a project promoted by the Municipality of Ugento together with the ISPC Institute of CNR in Lecce.

WhatWeAre designed the interactive technologies and supervised the works on the technology side, as well as coordinating the system integration activities, in synergy with the museum layout designed by the architect Mario Luca Baracchia.

The exhibition path includes four interactive installations and an augmented reality experience at the Tomb of the Athlete, one of the museum’s most significant finds.

Particular attention was paid to accessibility and to how staff operate the systems day to day. The technological solution adopted, based on solid-state multimedia architectures and laser projection, simplified daily operations and kept maintenance needs to a minimum.

The museum itself stands in an area of great archaeological interest, which includes valuable historical elements such as the evocative walled-up chapels visible along the path, tangible evidence of the site’s historical layering.
